The bill creates the office of cardiac arrest management (office) in
the department of public health and environment.
The office is required to:
Facilitate the registration of defibrillators in this state through the implementation of a statewide registry;
Coordinate cardiac arrest data, including outcome data from facilities that treat cardiac patients and from coroners;
Implement an outreach campaign to raise public awareness regarding cardiac arrest;
Provide training and education programs statewide to teach the skills necessary to save lives; and
Employ a statewide cardiac arrest data coordinator, a defibrillator registry coordinator, and other personnel as necessary.
The bill requires the general assembly to appropriate $500,000
annually for use by the office.
